Wood pile

2021

Aluminum foil, wood, steel

39” x 23” x 18”

Wood pile reimagines recognizable elements of Canadiana while questioning the relationship between the organic and inorganic. The tension between materials suggests a return to nature while literally masking the natural materials themselves.

Sunflowers

2021

Sunflowers, copper plating, paint, rubber

50” x 7” x 5”

The two dried sunflowers comprising this sculpture create an imperfect balance or perhaps even a tension. The black, rubberized sunflower appears depthless and is stretched out like the shadow of its white, copper-plated counterpart.
